A Tribe Called Quest Teaming Up With Anderson .Paak & Dave Grohl For 2017 Grammy Performance

The Grammys announced the performers for the 2017 awards show and the lineup looks pretty promising. The show, which airs February 12 on CBS, seeks to mesh the old with the new, according to Variety.
Hip Hop heads will probably be most excited to see A Tribe Called Quest perform another nationally-televised set. The group will be joined by Nirvana/Foo Fighters rockstar Dave Grohl and Anderson .Paak, who appeared on “Movin Backwards” from Tribe’s swan song, We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service.
Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi have been paying tribute to the late, great Phife Dawg in the promotion of the album, including with a powerful performance on Saturday Night Live last November. Tribe isn’t nominated for any awards this year, but Anderson .Paak is up for Best New Artist and Best Urban Contemporary Album with Malibu.
The Weeknd will also take the Grammy stage for the second year in a row. He will be joined by Daft Punk, who helped him craft some of the hits on his Starboy album, including the title track. Abel shared a set at last year’s show and was supposed to be joined by Lauryn Hill. There was a back-and-forth over whether Hill was confirmed to perform in the first place, but the two did unite to perform on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show shortly after.
The audience for these performances will reportedly not include Drake or Kanye West, who are both apparently missing the ceremony for various reasons.
